Exploring Musical Influences – Texas, Oklahoma and the Music of the Not So Wild West

May 6 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Imagine a book club for music lovers. Join us for an evening of exploring the world of music and the cultural influences that drive its evolution. JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Asleep At The Wheel, Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, and Willie Nelson are just a small sample of the music that has emerged from this part of North America. Appalachian folk music, gospel music and Western Swing all have long traditions throughout the west. We will look at many of these artists and others as we explore the music that emerged from the fabled dust bowl all the way to the Gulf Coast.
