This two-day workshop will focus on the total planning stages of your painting, starting with the reason you want to paint your chosen subject matter and how you are going to proceed with composing the structures within. Through a series of thumbnail sketches, we can change, add or eliminate elements that would make it more dramatic and eye catching. Only once we have chosen our final composition, we will be using the Grisaille Method, working in only shades of grey acrylic from light to dark, so that we get to understand the importance on controlling our tonal values. On completion of our Grisaille, we will proceed with turning it into colour by using transparent glazing (which Alan will provide), establishing correct values in colour.
