Community Art Project: South Surrey Yarn-Bombing Yarn bombing: The action or activity of covering objects or structures in public places with decorative knitted or crocheted material, as a form of street art. We are seeking 6”x6” and 12”x12” knitted or crocheted squares in all colours and designs to be featured in this Community Art Project. Requirements: -Must be a Semiahmoo Arts Society member. -Board Members are expected to attend 11 Board Meetings per year. Double Exposure creates a platform for dialogue between photography and poetry. This exhibition/competition showcases the talent of our community in these 2 mediums. The purpose: To showcase local photography and create ekphrastic poetry.  FYI: An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning. There are 2 ways to get involved:     1. Semiahmoo Arts have secure exhibition space available in the lobby of the Centre and in the Front Display Window. We invite our members to exhibit their work for a 1-month period throughout 2018. Lobby Showcase: This space is ideal for displaying sculptural pieces, pottery, textiles, small paintings, etc. Front Display Window: This space is ideal for displaying sculptural pieces, pottery, textiles, large paintings, etc. Items may be for sale and Semiahmoo Arts retains 20% commission on all sold items. To book your space please bring samples or photos of your work to the Semiahmoo Arts office: Wed-Sat 9am-5pm – First come first serve. Artist Collectives or Groups are welcome!
