Call for Submissions: The City of White Rock in partnership with Semiahmoo Arts is currently accepting submissions to The Love Show: Portraits of Passion as part of the Art on Display program. All artists are invited to submit a maximum of three portraits of people or animals they adore in celebration of Valentine’s Day. All mediums are welcome. Size restrictions: 2-d artwork can be no larger than 24”x36” including frame. 3-d artwork can be no larger than 12”x12”x12”. That’s a wrap on this year’s Paint the Town plein air competition! The goal for this event was to continue to document our changing community through plein air painting. This year we joined forces with 11 local businesses and created dialogue between art and commerce in White Rock. We also awarded $950 to 4 deserving artists to help fund their artistic practice. Zero to 360, our long-running Open Mic series is back, but this year, with a change of venue. Now held in the South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre, words will ring out in the beautiful Turnbull Gallery. Snacks and beverages will be available from the Sources concession stand in the Centre, with service shutting down at 7:30. As in the past, sign-up for the Open Mic starts at 7 pm, with the readings beginning at 7:30.
