Make Art. Meet Other Artists. Don’t Mess Up Your Own House. This gives our members an opportunity to make art with their peers in a supportive setting. Our visual arts studio is 1300sq/ft with lots of natural light. Includes: 12 metal easels, lots of table space, drawing boards, white boards, visual arts inspiration library, and 36″ cutting mat, 18″ paper cutter, large sinks, and a space in our artist community. Drop-in is $1.25 per hour – see the schedule for May and June. Artists can purchase 16 hours for $20 during our Office Hours. Tickets never expire. Tickets will not be sold during drop-in. The City of White Rock in partnership with Semiahmoo Arts is currently accepting submissions to the Youth Art Exhibition as part of the Art on Display program. All artists aged 12-19 are invited to submit a maximum of three works of art. This exhibition celebrates the talented and dynamic art of youth on the Semiahmoo Peninsula and provides an opportunity for young visual artists to showcase and celebrate their artistic abilities in a juried art exhibition. Join Surrey poet Heidi Greco for an afternoon of exploring some of the possible links between the visual arts and the art of words. This hands-on session will offer examples of ekphrastic work by established poets and encourage discussion towards understanding. There will also be prompts to get you writing and art to inspire you. A bold, contemporary artwork titled “Circulation” by Quebec artists Pierre Sasseville and Jean-François Cooke will enhance Surrey’s new Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre at the corner of 24 Avenue and 168 Street in South Surrey. Circulation is a monumental two-part sculpture of deer that references the dual purpose of the building: family-oriented recreation and professional competition. The sculpture facing 168 Street consists of a pair of pipes coming out of the ground that attaches to a faucet.
