The City of White Rock in partnership with Semiahmoo Arts is currently accepting submissions for artists to exhibit in our upcoming solo art shows. The first show will run from June 16 to July 15, with an opening reception on June 16, 2016.  The second art show will run from July 21 to August 26, with an opening reception on July 21, 2016. All artists aged 12-19 are invited to submit a maximum of three works of art.  This exhibition celebrates the talented and dynamic art of youth on the Semiahmoo Peninsula and provides an opportunity for young visual artists to showcase and celebrate their artistic abilities in a juried art exhibition. So, what’s ekphrastic poetry? The word ‘ekphrasis’ comes from the Greek, and means description or interpretation. Join Surrey poet Heidi Greco for an afternoon of exploring some of the possible links between the visual arts and the art of words. This hands-on session will offer examples of ekphrastic work by established poets and encourage discussion towards understanding. There will also be prompts to get you writing and art to inspire you.
